At POPPN, we believe you should always know what data we collect and why. This page explains the specific permissions and data we request, what we do with it, and how you stay in control. We will never collect data without your knowledge or use it in ways you haven't agreed to.
2. Phone Permissions We Request
POPPN may request access to the following features on your device. Each permission is optional and you can grant or revoke them at any time through your device settings.

3. Personal Data We Collect
When you sign up and use POPPN, we collect the following personal information:

4. What We Never Do
- We never sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties
- We never access your camera, microphone, or photo library without your explicit permission
- We never track your location in the background unless you specifically enable it for check-in features
- We never share your email address with other users
- We never store your passwords in plain text
- We never collect data from contacts, call logs, or text messages
5. How to Manage Your Consent
You are in full control of your data. Here's how to manage your permissions:
On Your Device
- iOS: Settings > POPPN > toggle Location, Camera, Photos, Notifications
- Android: Settings > Apps > POPPN > Permissions
In the App
- Profile > Settings > Privacy to manage data sharing preferences
- Profile > Settings > Notifications to control what alerts you receive
- Profile > Settings > Account > Delete Account to remove all your data
By Email
- Email privacy@joinpoppn.com to request a full export of your data
- Email privacy@joinpoppn.com to request complete data deletion
- We respond to all data requests within 30 days
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: We keep your data for as long as your account is active
- Deleted accounts: All personal data is deleted or anonymized within 30 days of account deletion
- Posted content: Venue feed content is automatically deprioritized after 30 days. Memories stay until you delete them.
- Waitlist emails: Kept until you unsubscribe or request removal
7. Third-Party Data Processors
We use the following services to operate POPPN. Each processes data on our behalf under strict agreements:
- Supabase: Authentication, database storage, and file hosting
- Google Maps Platform: Map display and venue data
- Resend / SendGrid: Transactional email delivery
- Vercel: Website hosting
- Analytics tools: Anonymized usage tracking for app improvement
We do not allow any third party to use your data for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
8. Updates to This Policy
If we make changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and notify you through the app or email. Continued use of POPPN after updates means you accept the revised policy.
